What is MDC Company?

What is MDC Company?

MDC Company is a competitive dance company for students who want to take their dancing to the next level. All company dancers are required to train in both ballet and jazz. We strongly recommend taking a few other classes to be a well rounded dancer in multiple styles. Throughout the year, Company dancers rehearse weekly to learn and prepare routines in a variety of dance styles. They perform their routines locally for community events and attend dance competitions both locally and out of town.

What is the time commitment?

What is the time commitment?

Rehearsals: Each competition dance requires approximately one hour of rehearsal time per week. Depending on the number of routines in which your dancer is cast, the time commitment will vary. Rehearsals will be held on Saturday morning and some weeknights as space and dancers are available.

Competition: Competitions are held on the weekends, often Friday through Sunday. You will need to plan to be available the entire weekend as the competition schedule isn’t released until the week before it begins. For out-of-town competitions you will need to factor in travel time. It might be necessary for your dancer to miss school if we’re competing in Kansas City on a Friday, for example.

What is the financial commitment?

What is the financial commitment?

The cost of being an MDC Company member will vary based on factors such as the number of routines, the number of dancers in each routine, the costumes needed, and props. Various fees and amounts will be discussed in the parent meeting in September. The cost of each routine will be communicated to parents so they can decide how many numbers their dancer(s) can participate in.
